Working with Fear

12+ Hours of Teachings, Practices, Meditations, and Strategies to Identify and Release Your Fear Patterns

“The biggest addiction in the world is the addiction to our own comfort.”

-Tara Brach

“Move, but don’t move the way fear makes you move.” -Rumi

We often imagine fear as panic.

A pounding heart.
A flood of anxiety.
The impulse to run.

But for most people, fear is far more subtle—and far more deceptive.

It shows up as overthinking. Over-preparing. Over-performing.

It hides in logic, planning, patience, caring, protecting, and “being realistic.”

It wears the mask of discernment while quietly running your life from the shadows.

Fear rarely says:

“I’m scared. Don’t do it.”

Instead, it says:

“Maybe wait a little longer.”
“Secure a backup plan first.”
“Let’s think about this more.”
“What if you change your mind.”

The moment fear evolves from a scream to a strategy is the moment it becomes most dangerous—because now it looks like wisdom.

Fear is most destructive not when it terrifies you, but when it impersonates your voice of reason.

And this is why so many high-functioning, self-aware people stay stuck.

They don’t realize that the “rational plan” they’re clinging to…
The “logical next step” they’re always prepping for…
The “thinking it through” they’re sitting with…
The “timing” they’re waiting on…

Isn’t actually a strategy for success, growth, and alignment.

It’s a strategy for safety.

And safety, when it’s driven by well-disguised fear, will always hold you back from what’s truly possible in your life, including true happiness.

Fear Is Not the Enemy

In this course, we’re not going to “conquer” fear with affirmations, positive thinking,

That’s a strategy for

We’re going to move closer to fear

Performative confidence pretends it doesn’t feel fear. Real confidence moves closer to fear, asks what it sees, and proceeds with humility, wisdom, and surrender.

We’re going to get to know it.

We’re going to:

  • Understand the specific ways your fear disguises itself

  • Discern between fear that protects and fear that sabotages

  • Build your capacity to move forward in the presence of fear

  • Learn to ally with fear rather than abandon yourself to it

Because fear is not inherently bad. It’s a protective part of you. It’s trying to help.

But it often gets stuck in an outdated script—one formed during experiences when you didn’t have the tools, the strength, or the support to handle life on your own terms.

You do now.

And this course is designed to help you reclaim your power.

The 8 Stages of Working With Fear

Most

1. Hijacked
Your nervous system is in survival mode. Fear is in the driver’s seat. You’re overwhelmed, reactive, and often paralyzed. There’s little to no space between stimulus and response.

2. Entangled
You’re aware of the fear but caught in it. Your thoughts, actions, and even your identity are fused with it. It feels like you. Attempts to move forward are thwarted by invisible internal resistance.

3. Conflicted
You sense there’s a deeper truth, but fear still has a strong hold. You vacillate between intuitive knowing and protective patterns. Decision-making is exhausting. You’re stuck in analysis paralysis.

4. Engaged
You begin to develop enough inner capacity to sit with fear instead of act from it. There’s curiosity. You don’t yet feel free, but you’re in relationship with the fear now—rather than ruled by it.

5. Decoding
You start to see the structure of your fear pattern: where it came from, how it disguises itself, and what it’s trying to protect. You can name it. You can speak to it. You begin to see it clearly for what it is.

6. Repatterning
New behaviors emerge. You no longer obey the old fear script. You begin choosing alignment over avoidance. Fear still shows up, but you respond with presence, not panic.

7. Aligned
Your actions flow from a deeper intelligence within. Fear is still part of your system, but it’s an advisor, not a ruler. You trust your inner compass more than your protective parts.

8. Liberated
There’s space. You move from truth rather than tension. Fear may arise, but it no longer shapes your identity or drives your life. There’s ease, clarity, and freedom.

What You’ll Learn

  • How fear subtly shows up in your daily life under the guise of logic, control, and “good decisions”

  • How to identify your unique fear pattern (the one that feels normal but is quietly running everything)

  • How to move forward even when fear is present

  • How to discern when fear is a signal to slow down vs. when it’s a smokescreen keeping you small

  • How to transform fear into forward movement

You’ll also receive practical tools to:

  • Work with fear somatically (in your body)

  • Speak to fear as a part (IFS-style)

  • Reframe fear energy into focused, aligned action

  • Develop the nervous system capacity to stay with the sensations of fear without collapsing, numbing, or running

This Course Is For You If…

  • You feel stuck in indecision or doubt

  • You constantly second-guess your gut

  • You tend to plan, prep, or research instead of taking action

  • You’re “successful” but don’t feel free

  • You want to live a more courageous life—and need help moving through what’s in the way

Fear Will Come With You Either Way

The question is: Will it run your life from the backseat?

Or will it sit beside you—acknowledged, honored, and no longer in control?

If you’re ready to meet fear with presence, compassion, and strength…

If you’re ready to stop letting it shape your decisions, your relationships, your dreams…

Join me in this course.

I’ll walk with you into the places fear hides.

And I’ll help you find the part of you that’s been ready to move forward all along.

Fear doesn’t always scream. Sometimes it whispers in the voice of your inner strategist.

It says things like:
“Let’s be realistic.”
“Maybe later.”
“Just be careful.”
“Get a backup plan first.”

The moment fear evolves from a scream to a strategy is the moment it becomes most dangerous—because now it looks like wisdom.

But here’s the key insight:

Fear is most powerful not when it terrifies you, but when it impersonates your voice of reason.

And this is why so many high-functioning, self-aware people stay stuck.

They don’t realize that the “rational plan” they’re clinging to…
the “logical next step” they’re always prepping for…
the “timing” they’re waiting on…

isn’t actually a strategy for success.
It’s a strategy for safety.

And safety, when it’s driven by unconscious fear, will always shrink your life.

If you’re new to my online retreats, here’s what past participants have said:

Praise:

“This is my fifth online retreat and it is something that I not only look forward to, but for which I feel a definite and continuing need to learn. Who knew that there could be a sense of community in a virtual format with people I have never met? Who knew that you could find a teacher/mentor in mindfulness in such a format? I am enriched multifold each time I log on to any part of these retreats. And I do use the recorded sessions to revisit, take new notes, get inspired. I can’t wait for the next one.” -Shari Agrell

“This retreat changed my life. Truly!!  After the retreat, I could feel how much more grounded I was, I was able to make decisions about my new business and kids and life with better ease. I have a lot on my plate right now and I could really feel the clarity open up. I could feel the calmness of the waves and now crave meditation. I will now make it a part of my life because I had this opportunity to really feel the benefit for myself. I will definitely attend another retreat in the future. I really appreciate how Cory teaches and how humble and real he is. He is a gift and I appreciate him sharing his gift.” -Heather

“This was my first ever retreat. It was an amazing, enlightening, thought-provoking experience. I came out of it feeling exhausted and hopeful. I came into it expecting to get new information; I wasn’t expecting the skills for navigating life that I’ve taken beyond the retreat. I was expecting an experience that would end with the retreat but even though it’s only been 24 hours, I can feel something has shifted that will create long-term impact. I’ll definitely be back for more retreats in the future.” -Henry

“For me, these retreats have been profound and life-changing.” -Dennis Blanchut

This was literally the missing piece of my spiritual journey that I’ve been looking for. Cory’s retreat was like nothing else I’ve seen offered in the meditation space. His teaching style is honest and refreshing. He is always well prepared and yet able to pivot when the group needs something different. He truly embodies what he teaches. I look forward to attending anything he offers in the future.” – Debby Germino

“I have long been unable to go to traditional meditation retreats because I have small children. This online format provided me with the opportunity (and no excuse) to engage! It was more than I expected – and I had pretty high expectations. Cory’s presence, his depth of knowledge, the structure, and the powerful journey I had were worth far more than the modest cost. I feel cleansed and more centered. I’m deeply grateful for the experience.” -Shannon Polly

“This retreat was so deep, so personal. Spectacular, really, that it has left me speechless. I think it boils down to: “The adventure continues. I can hardly wait for the next one.” -Louise Lamanna
