Meet sadness with kindness.
Think back to a time when you were struggling, and you were met by someone with compassion, love and kindness. How did it feel? How did that impact your pain? What sort of healing did that offer?
Developing that relationship with yourself, especially with difficult experiences like sadness and grief, is the foundation for acceptance, integration and growth. It doesn’t mean you need to wallow in your pain, but the alternative is bypassing, judging yourself for it, or suppressing it, and none of that actually helps the healing process.
Meet sadness with kindness. Start by acknowledging the pain, creating space for it, and giving yourself the permission to have it. This alone can transform it, but if nothing else, it is a much more effective foundation to stand on when deciding what you need next.
